Polycarbonate is commonly known by the brand names Makrolon or Lexan.  

This material has a higher impact rating than acrylic where vandalism and breakages may happen. Polycarbonate does scratch easier than acrylic due to the softer compound.  

 

Available in different grades - UV, Obscure, AR (Abrasive Resistant) and Hygard.

Standard sheet sizes are 2440 x 1220mm with some available in oversize sheets

 

Clear and Smokey Grey Tint - UV stabilised both sides.   Can be used for protection screen panels, skylight panels, glazing purposes, pool fence compliance panels, balustrade panels, gate and fence infill panels, machine guards, headlight protector panels and much more 

Clear is available in 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm, 4.5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 9.5mm and 12mm thick 

Smokey grey tint available in 3mm, 4.5mm, 6mm and 9.5mm thick 

 

Opal is UV stabilised on one side only.   Used mostly for sign faces where there is high rate of vandalism.   Available in 3mm, 4.5mm and 6mm thick only

 

Obscure - Has an embossed pattern, is UV stabilised and is available in 6mm clear only. 

 

AR2 - Clear only with a hard-coat on two sides which adds higher abrasive resistance and surface hardness.

Used for drag and race car windows, flat architectural glazing and machine guards. Available in 3mm, 6mm, 9.5mm and 12.7mm thick 

 

Hygard - Ballistic glazing grade used within Government offices, Detention Centres, Banks,

24hr convenience stores, cash transaction windows etc.  Available in clear only and withstands 9mm ballistic attack.
